The Clinical Trial Process

Step 1: Registration

Register on the Internet by sending your application to participant@algopharm.com, or dial 514-381-2546 (ALGO) (or toll free 1-888-758-6312) to simply contact one of our agents who will be happy to open a file for you and suggest available studies that fit your profile.

While speaking with an agent, ask how you can participate in our referral program. Depending on your eligibility, you will receive additional money for your involvement.

A clinical trial in 4 basic steps

Step 2: 2-Step Medical Examination

In order to shorten the waiting time, we have a 2-step medical examination which is done in 2 visits to verify your health and confirm your eligibility for the proposed study.

During the first visit:

• You will receive an Informed Consent Form with information pertaining to the nature of the study.

• You will be informed of the procedure, the schedule of the study and possible side effects.

• A file with your weight, height and demographic background information will be completed.

• In addition to an electrocardiogram and checking your vital signs, you must provide blood and urine samples.

During the second visit:

• Before completing your evaluation and confirming your eligibility, a doctor will review your medical history. This new process has eliminated the competitive call system previously in place.

• A staff member will advise you of your eligibility and will take the opportunity to answer your questions before you take part in the study.

• If you decide to participate in a study, you may withdraw at any time. However, before withdrawing you must inform the Algorithme Pharma doctor for your own safety.

Step 3: Participation in a study

If the results of your medical history meet the study criteria requirements, you will be eligible to participate. In exchange for your participation, you will receive compensation in instalments. Compensation will vary between $700 and $4000, depending on the study completed.

The length of stay will also vary depending on the type of study. On average, two stays of 24 to 48 hours are required. Since you will spend a minimum of one night at the clinic, you will be assigned a bed upon arrival, and you will receive healthy, balanced meals for the duration of your stay. Following study criteria, typical procedure involves taking medication and providing blood or urine samples.

To make your stay as pleasant as possible, we offer a variety of entertainment options at your disposal (such as DVD movies, games, newspapers, wireless high speed internet, television, etc.). The Internet is available on one of our multiple desktop terminals, allowing you to study, work, keep in touch with friends and family or just relax. You are also invited to bring your own laptop or portable DVD player.

Note:

Before the study begins, you are required to comply with some important instructions. In particular, do not take any prescription drugs, do not eat grapefruit, drink coffee or alcohol 58 hours before arrival at the clinic. The instructions may vary according to the study. This information will be included in the Informed Consent Form you will receive during the first medical visit.

In addition, your full cooperation is required to ensure that at all times, politeness and respect are demonstrated, both through physical gesture as well as with words and tone of voice. It is important to note that a lack of cooperation on your part could result in your exclusion, not only from the current study, but from all future studies with Algorithme Pharma.

Step 4: Follow-up visits 

After your stay, short follow-up visits may be necessary depending on the type of study. You will then receive a final cheque to cover the balance of the financial compensation for the completed study.
